Sparring Feedback – which one really matter?

There are two kind of feedback after sparring I kept. I realised we need the coach who knows how you fight and also your view. The least : your team mate , sparring partner view.

I am a big believer to be 1%  better after every sparring or any kind of training. Also means knowing which area you should work on and what to improve on. If there is no feedback, take a video of your own training or sparring and learn how to give yourself feedback. I have a list of things you can start using.

OFFENSE OF DEFENSE

SERIES OF DEFENSE

FOOTWORK – Do you need to work on angles (positioning), step back, moving forward? Is your footwork only on one thing.

HEAD MOVEMENT

Weave – Is your weave slow and you get caught while doing it? Does your weave end up having your head same spot where you started weaving?

Slip – are you slipping too little and you get caught ? Remember you are trying to avoid a size of a glove not barehand of someone, so you have to move more than you estimated.
Are you not using your core to slip, only using your upper body (shoulder & head)?

Arm Block – Is your arm block not strong enough?

Parry – Is your parry sloopy or obvious?

SERIES OF OFFENSE

Sharp and precise – Is it precise?
Is your punches have speed but have no precision to it? It may look fast between shots but it does not land anywhere specific.

No rhythm – Boxing is rhythm, that is why there is a saying boxing is like dancing. Dancing is rhythm. Is it a jab then cross or is it jab cross together?

No countering – Do you just not punch back after getting punch or even when you defend?

My coach knows me. I know me. Everything else should be the least from your thinking mind. I know this blog gives you a big relief from overthinking. I wish I had a guide when I first started sparring.
